Broadband is a wonderful invention that a lot of people will like to use. In most homes, this kind of connection is going to be used by more than one computer. While it is nice to just have the one bill for all of your computers, it can sometimes become a pain if you need to get work done and others are using the broadband for games and other things at the same time. This article is going to talk about bandwidth limiting software Traffic Shaper XP that you can put onto some of the computers in your home so that you can ensure that the bandwidth is always available when you are going to need it.
The first thing that you will want to do is download this product at bandwidthcontroller.com. You will need to do this on the computer that you want the limitations to be on rather than on your regular computer or it is not going to work out that well for you. When the thing has downloaded, you should make sure that the prompt knows to get it all installed. Click on Finish when the whole think is done. At this time, the program is going to open up into a window that is called “Welcome to the Network Configuration Wizard.” Do not be alarmed, this is supposed to be there and you should make sure to click next on it.
After this is all done, you can use the menus that are available in order to determine the amount of speed that the computer will be able to use when it is on the internet. This is going to be determined in kilobits per second. You can either use one of the values that is listed on these menus to make things easier, or you can go through and type in a speed of your own if you happen to know what would work out the best for your situation. Click on the next button after the speeds have been determined.
Now you will need to click on the broadband connection that you plan on limiting the speed for. This is most likely going to be your local connection. This is nice because it is going to allow you to just limit it at home but the computer will work well in other locations. Click on the next button. Make sure to click on finish when you are done in order to save the settings and get back to work.
